Andrew House, the leader of Sony Computer Entertainment, says that the recently launched PlayStation 4 will benefit from the company’s increased focus on new intellectual property.

He tells MCV that, “I do think that the early consumer is going to buy in if they sense that there is a roadmap of great content that is going to come down the pipe, and you have cited some of those games that have been announced, which are also brand new IP, which I think is critically important.”

The executive has not talked specifically about the Xbox One or Microsoft, but he has suggested that his competitors are relying too much on old franchises.

On launch, the PlayStation 4 was accompanied by Knack, Killzone: Shadow Fall and Resogun.

More titles for the home console are expected to arrive at retail in 2014 and Sony has also recruited a number of indie developers to create digitally distributed experiences for the device.
