Just now, Sony has made available a new firmware package targeted at its PlayStation 4 console, namely version 1.60, which adds support for the PULSE wireless stereo headset that will make the 7.1 virtual surround experience possible.

In addition to that, the new firmware also includes some system stability improvements and adds a mute option to the camera’s settings.

As for installing this release, on a formatted USB drive, create a “PS4/UPDATE” path and copy the downloadable .PUP file into the last created folder, turn off the PS4, and connect the memory drive to the console’s USB port.

Now, power on the PS4 by touching and holding the power button for at least 7 seconds (to enter safe mode), select “Update System Software,” and follow the on-screen instructions.

That being said, if you consider applying this latest update in order to have the ability to experience 7.1 surround, download Firmware 1.60 for Sony PlayStation 4, take into account the above-mentioned aspects, and enjoy your newly updated Sony console.
