She’s over 50 years old but she hasn’t aged a bit, though she did change considerably throughout the years. Her love life is very intriguing even though she’s spent most of her time with just one man. Barbie is no longer a doll but Mattel’s biggest hit, so the maker has teamed up with Sony Pictures to bring her to the big screen.

Barbie is moving on up in the world and, according to Deadline, she’s bringing Ken along for the ride as well. Sony and Mattel are fast tracking a live action comedy with the duo, which will hopefully launch Sony’s future hit franchise.

“Jenny Bicks is writing the script and the intention is to begin production before year’s end. The film will be produced by Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald, who are also rebooting Men In Black for the studio. The exec producers are Parkes+MacDonald president Marc Resteghnini and Julia Pistor for Mattel’s Playground Productions,” the trade publication says.

Barbie has been very successful as a doll, so we’ll see if she will enjoy the same popularity when she becomes human.

Before you start speculating on who might best play her and who would be her ideal Ken, let me just throw two names on the table: Valeria Lukyanova and Justin Jedlica, aka the Human Barbie and the Human Ken. They hate each other and we don’t know if they can act, but at least they got the looks part to a tee.
