Japanese company Sony has quite a long history in manufacturing some of the world's most impressive audio solutions, including certain headphones models that are really out of this world, and that's also pretty much the case with their latest development in this particular segment, namely the MDR-XB1000 model. The main selling point the new headphones from Sony have in store is, as AV Watch points out, the fact that they come equipped with the largest drivers ever to be embedded in a pair of headphones, featuring a diameter of 2.75 inches (or 70 mm).

For this reason, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise the fact that this impressive pair of headphones delivers quite an impressive sound range, featuring not only a more powerful, thumping bass, but also an improved frequency range, namely 2-30,000Hz.

Additionally, it's also interesting to note that the drivers feature an elastic polyurethane padding to isolate the sound, resulting in a top sound pressure of 106 decibels with a 24Ω impedance, while Sony also claims that this level of sound insulation enables quite a special experience for users, who'll feel just like being set in front of some large speakers within a club.

It's also important to mention that the new headphones have a 3,000 mW maximum input, while the audio cable (featuring a stereo mini plug) length is 2m, granting users quite a serious level of freedom.

Last, but certainly not least, we'll have to mention that the new headphones from Sony are also a bit on the “heavy” side, as they weigh around 375g.

Of course, given the features they provide, the new MBR-XB1000 headphones from Sony are also fairly expensive, one pair selling for around $377 in Japan, starting with February 10th, with the rest of the world to follow later on this year.
