While Sony's not providing its various consumer electronics (such as HDTVs or video cameras) with HDMI cables included in the sales package, it certainly has them on sale, the Japanese company just announcing that they'd be releasing a brand-new line of such connectivity solutions across Europe in the near future. According to Sony, their new family of high-performance HDMI cables deliver Full HD video and sound, support for 3D video and they’re also the first cables by Sony to offer full compatibility with the latest features, allowing Ethernet connectivity via HDMI plus other advanced entertainment features. Available in a range of lengths from 1m up to 10m (depends on model), all new cables let users enjoy full HD video and multi-channel digital surround sound, while also being 3D-rated, allowing users enjoy images from compatible sources on their 3D TVs. High speed transfer performance also supports extended resolutions up to 4k, while the premium performance with any signal source is further ensued by 24K gold plated connectors for extra durability. The new cables support HDMI Ethernet Channel (HEC), combining HD video, audio and high-speed data in a single cable, a feature that simplifies networking between Internet-capable TVs and other devices with minimised cabling requirements. Moreover, their Audio Return Channel (ARC) capability enables ‘upstream’ audio connections, thus simplifying cabling between TV and A/V system, while the cables also support a wide range of standard 3D formats up to 1080p resolution, quad Full HD resolution, at 3840 x 2160 and colour spaces, that allows reproduction of rich, lifelike colours when displaying images on TV from a digital camera. We've talked quite enough about the features these cables have to offer, so now it's about time to check out what products we're talking about. So, we've got the DLC-HE**H Horizontal swivel connector HDMI Cable, featuring a connector body that swivels horizontally, followed by the DLC-HE**V Vertical swivel connector HDMI Cable that also sports a vertical swivel connector for extra installation flexibility. Next in line comes the DLC-HE**P General purpose HDMI cable, that's apparently quite on the affordable side, as well as the DLC-HEM** HDMI cable with mini (Type C) connector, designed to match Handycam, alpha or Bloggie digital cameras that include an HDMI port, and, for this reason, featuring a mini (type C) connection at one end. The new range of high-speed HDMI cables with Ethernet Channel support by Sony should already be available in stores as we speak, but the company's not provided any info on the pricing, probably due to the fact that, similar to all other Sony accessories, these things are also extremely expensive.
