Electronics giant Sony announces that it is opening up a new special department inside the PlayStation division which is in charge of developing business relations with China, which might mean that the hardware the company is creating might soon be delivered on that market.

The announcement from the official Sony Computer Entertainment Japan site has been translated by NeoGAF, but there are no details about what the company wants to accomplish in the short term.

The Chinese government, through its Ministry of Culture, has announced that it is opening up the home market for foreign-made home consoles, which were banned for a long time.

A Microsoft official has already announced that the company has long-term plans to launch the Xbox One in China, although no clear details about the date or the price have so far been announced.

Sony probably has similar plans, but the two companies will only make official announcements when they have a domestic partner which will help them distribute and market the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.

Huawei has already announced that it has plans to launch a console that’s custom made for the Chinese market, which means that it will have a low price and content that’s tailor made for the potential audience.
