Sony has finally introduced its highly anticipated netbook, the much rumored 8-inch VAIO P series laptop, dubbed the Lifestyle PC. The new ultraportable VAIO laptop has been designed to offer users a computing alternative that will provide them with Internet access and quick access to multimedia files. The system is expected to become available for purchase with a price tag of $900, considerably higher than what you will need to pay for a traditional netbook system. Attendants at this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas will be able to set their eyes on the new system and get a first-hand experience with the small ultraportable.

“The VAIO P Series Lifestyle PC is your portal to the world, delivering entertainment and computing in a head-turning device that’s small enough to put in your pocket,” said Mike Abary, senior vice president of VAIO product marketing at Sony Electronics. “Designed for the fashionista in all of us, it’s the ideal companion.”

Despite its small form factor, the system is capable of providing its users with an impressive screen high resolution of 1600 by 768 pixels, thanks to the LED backlit 8-inch ultra-wide display, which boasts the company's XBRITE-ECO LCD technology. With a battery life rated at up to four hours, the small VAIO P series incorporates built-in wireless WAN 3GB Mobile Broadband, 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technologies for optimum connectivity options. In addition, the company has also featured this ultraportable system with built-in GPS functionality.

On the inside, this small VAIO laptop still has enough space to integrate an Intel processor, running at a cool 1.33GHz, a maximum of 2GB of DDR2 memory, and a 128GB Solid State Drive makes up for the system's storage. The graphics and audio have predictably been solved by Intel's integrated solutions.

The VAIO P Series product hasn't been marketed as a netbook, but the specifications on this thing clearly make it a competitor in the fast growing market. It does provide support for a Windows Vista Home Premium operating system, which comes as an advantage, in comparison to other similar netbooks out there.
