Today, Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile has officially announced the upcoming availability of the Xperia E1, an affordable device that sports a 100dB speaker and that provides users with 30 days of free access to music on the Sony Entertainment Network.

The new Android-based handset packs Sony’s leading audio technologies, as well as an appealing design and performance capabilities, and it is said to be the “best smartphone in its class.”

The new mobile phone arrives on the market with a 4-inch touchscreen display, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor Qualcomm MSM8210 processor, and a 1700 mAh battery.

Furthermore, the device features Cat 14 HSPA+, ClearAudio+ mode, and xLOUD for loud and crystal clear sound. The Xperia E1 will be launched in a dual-SIM version as well (the Xperia Xperia E1dual), enabling users to set up each SIM card separately, Sony announced.

“Xperia E1 combines the best of Sony’s audio technologies with a premium design and great hardware to create a smartphone for people who want to express themselves out loud.” said Calum MacDougall, director of Xperia Marketing at Sony Mobile Communications.

“It’s a new, music focused player in our Xperia line-up that is underpinned by the best of Sony’s design, display and content offers.”

The new Sony Xperia E1 comes with Walkman technology inside, including a “long press to launch” Walkman button and the latest generation of Sony’s “WALKMAN” App.

“To top it all off, Xperia E1 comes pre-loaded with a 30 day pass for Sony’s Entertainment Network2 music streaming service so that you can explore the full functionality of the WALKMAN App and enjoy almost any song, almost anywhere,” the company announced.

The new mobile phone will arrive on the market in three color versions, namely white, black, and purple. Unfortunately, Sony did not offer specific info on the handset’s pricing and availability as of now, though it might cost around $240 (€175), given that it has already been compared with devices priced similarly.
