Bloodborne has just received a series of multiplayer tips from developer From Software and publisher Sony, alongside a confirmation that the next patch is going to solve the matchmaking glitch that prevents PS4 owners from going online after using suspend and resume on the RPG.

Bloodborne launched last month exclusively for the PS4 platform, and like previous role-playing experiences from developer From Software, it features both a cooperative and a competitive multiplayer experience.

In order to help newcomers that didn't go through Dark Souls or Demon's Souls, Sony has just posted a brief guide on its PS blog, filled with useful tips for those that want to work alongside others or go up against them through the Versus feature.

First up, Bloodborne allows up to three players to work alongside each other through the cooperative mode. The player who initiates it is the host, while those who join are the guests. If you want to have others help you, go to the Hunter's Dream zone and ring the Beckoning Bell. Guests must buy and use the Small Resonant Bell that can be purchased from the Insight shop in Hunter's Dream.

Sony emphasizes that the matchmaking system doesn't bring together players of vastly different levels. Unfortunately, it doesn't say what exact level difference is the limit.

Cooperative play is designed to help players defeat local boss enemies. Once the beast is killed, the guests receive a bonus reward and are returned to their own game. If they die, they are also brought back to their own session.

If you want to play just with a specific friend, you can set a password to restrict the matchmaking system. Bear in mind that the password doesn't restrict your session from Versus competitive invasions.

Speaking of the invasions, guests who use the Sinister Resonant Bell, once again purchased from the Insight shop in Hunter's Dream, will be transported to the world of a host which has started the cooperative play mechanic.

The objective for the guest is to take down the host, and if that's achieved, a special reward is offered to them.

Last but not least, players can also work together to complete Chalice Dungeons, although all those involved must have the same dungeon installed on their console.

Finally, Sony confirms that using the Suspend/Resume function introduced by the latest PS4 firmware brings forth a glitch that prevents matchmaking. As such, you need to completely shut down the game and start it back up to be able to go online.
