The device will dominate markets that lack a streaming leader

Sony surprised a lot of gamers when it announced the new Vita TV device, but the company says that it currently has no plans to launch the hardware for the markets in the United States and Europe and will focus on making it a success in Japan, China and South Korea.

Andrew House, the president of Sony Computer Entertainment, says that his team is aiming to have a strong presence in markets where there’s no leader for the streaming tech.

The executive says that the Vita TV is a much better solution than simply trying to add an HDMI port to the handheld itself.

House also believes that the newly announced platform has a lot of potential on the Chinese market as long as the government lifts a ban on sales.

The Vita is also getting a new version in October and is being promoted as a second screen companion for the PlayStation 4.
