The market for video cameras and camcorders definitely got resupplied today, as Sony went all out and revealed more than one NEX product, even a new Handycam called NEX-VG20.

Those keeping track of things on the photo and video camera market will likely have learned of Sony's latest moves.

The company released two new NEX cameras, the NEX-7 and NEX-5N, though this is not all that the outfit did.

Indeed, Sony made sure its presence made itself felt on the camcorder segment, creating and presenting the NEX-VG20 Handycam.

"Whether you're shooting video or stills, this camcorder's large sensor rivals the expressive picture quality of a DSLR camera," said Andy Bubala, director of camcorders at Sony Electronics.

"We've also made several enhancements to deliver the type of camcorder that video enthusiasts will love."

The product has the ability to capture 16 megapixel still pictures in addition to shooting videos in Full HD quality (1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution).

It also has a microphone (Quad Capsule Spatial Array Microphone) that can capture 5.1 channel surround sound.

Not only that, but a special mention should be given to the LCD (liquid crystal display), which measures three inches in diagonal and can be rotated 270 degrees.

Furthermore, the Cinema Tone Gamma and Cinema Tone Color technologies will allow for an even richer, more cinematic look.

Finally, the lenses are interchangeable and even the SEL18200 F3.5-6.3 E-mount is available as an option (it features wide 11x optical zoom range, as well as built-in Optical SteadyShot image stabilization).

November is when sales will commence, for the price of $2,199, though choosing not to get the SEL18200 F3.5-6.3 E-mount will drag things lower, to $1,599.

Users need only consult the press release if they wish to get an idea of all assets, down to the enhancements to comfort and the like.
