There's no secret that the Asian camera market sells the most mirrorless models and, thanks to that, large companies like Canon choose to launch their latest products here before introducing them to the US and European markets.

In addition to that, the Japanese market solely holds 16% of the entire mirrorless camera sales, while the US market is falling behind with only 12.15% of the total sales figures.

Asian website BCNRanking has published this year's camera sales figures in Japan for mirrorless and DSLR models, picturing the best-selling models from both categories.

According to these charts, the number one selling mirrorless camera in Asia this year was Sony NEX 5R, with a market share of 11.9%, followed closely by Canon EOS M with 9.2% and Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5 with almost 9%.

Ricoh manages to claim the seventh spot with its Q10 model, Panasonic ranks eighth with Lumix DMC-GF6, and Nikon comes only in ninth place with its Nikon 1 J2 interchangeable-lens camera model.

When it comes to the digital SLR sales figures, the best-selling cameras on the Japanese market are divided between Canon and Nikon for the first 10 places on the chart. According to the Japanese website, the number one selling DSLR this year was Canon EOS Kiss X5 / 600D / Rebel T3i with a 14.5% share.

Nikon manages to occupy the next three ranks with its D3200, D5200, and D5100 models that hold a total of 27.3% share of the entire sales figures.

All the mentioned DSLRs are APS-C format cameras, but if you're wondering which was the number one selling full-frame digital camera, the chart also shares this kind of info. That being said, Canon EOS 6D was the most purchased full-frame DSLR on the Japanese market, followed by Canon EOS 5D Mark III, Nikon D600, and Nikon D800.
