As the family and the industry continue to mourn the loss of Steve Jobs, a longtime sufferer of pancreatic cancer who passed away a few days ago, Sony is making the smartest business decision possible right now: a movie on his life.

In light of the announcement that the book on Jobs’ life by Walter Isaacson will be released earlier than announced initially because of his death, this should hardly come as a surprise.

Sony has already acquired the rights to the book and will be working on a movie based on it as soon as possible, Slash Film informs.

“Sony is acquiring the book Steve Jobs, an upcoming tome by Walter Isaacson which is based on interviews with Jobs conducted over the past two years,” the e-zine says.

The book, which comes out on October 24, will offer a rare look at the details of Jobs’ life, known for how protective he was of his personal life.

When asked by Isaacson why he agreed to open up for a book, Jobs’ answer was that he “wanted [his] children to know me.”

In other words, the movie will definitely be something to look forward to – and not just for fans of Apple products.

“The studio will quickly begin developing a film based on the book, with Mark Gordon producing,” Slash Film says of the upcoming biopic.

“There is no screenwriter hired, much less a release date, for the theoretical film that will follow from the book,” adds the same publication.

“We don’t even know what shape the first script might take, though it seems safe to assume that it will be a mixture of biography and business drama along the lines of Moneyball and The Social Network,” Slash Film further notes.

Since this is now out there, on the Internet, expect speculation on who might be best to play the late Apple co-founder to start any minute now.
