Are you ready for a new exciting rumor form the vast Sony camera gardens? Well, it appears that two different sources familiar with the matter have indicated Sony is gearing up to produce a medium-format camera, set to arrive in the next 5 to 6 months.

According to SonyAlphaRumors, the company is looking to launch their own branded medium format camera that will come boasting the same 50MP 44 x 33 mm sensor used in by the Hasselblad H5D-50c camera, that sells for $27,500 / €19,875 at BHphoto.

Both sources claimed the upcoming camera would not be up against the likes of Hasselblad, Pentax 645III and Phase one that use the same Sony sensor. It’s interesting how it is highlighted that the new device will be something “completely different.” And to get you even more excited, it will be even cheaper.

So far, one can only speculate whether this new product will come equipped with fix lens or new interchangeable lens mount system. Does a $5000 / €3613 RX camera with fix lens plus Sony’s new medium-format sensor sound like a good deal to you?
