Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced that the indie rock band Kasabian will establish a presence in the PlayStation Home virtual space, via a partnership with the Music Unlimited service.

The band is launching its newest album, called Velociraptor!, using the Sony service and to celebrate this it is also getting an Event Space in Home.

Fans will be able to head over and take part in a Questions & Answers session, with fans able to ask their own on the official PlayStation forums, and watch a number of exclusive live video performances from the O2, Dublin concert.

Those who visit the Kasabian Home space will also get a free T-shirt for their Avatar and will be able to also sign up for 30 days of Music Unlimited service and be entered into a draw for an exclusive reward on September 26.

The Home space will also allow visitors to enter a competition, involving one video and two questions, which will award the lucky winner two tickets to see the band playing live at the O2 on December 14 of this year.

The band Kasabian was formed in 1999 in Leicestershire and has since then launched four albums, becoming one of the best known of a wave of new bands from England.

They managed to pick up the Best British Rock award at the Brits in 2010 and have also received a number of other nominations and notched up other prestigious awards.

The fact that PlayStation Home is becoming more than just a space to socialize and to show off video games means that Sony is interested in a tighter integration of the various services that it offers on the PlayStation 3.

Sony has an extensive music business component and both it and the Home social space could benefit if fans can be persuaded that the virtual presence of their favorite band is worth visiting.
