Sony revealed 4 new personal navigation devices. First in line is the slick NV -U92T with ultra-wide all-in-one 4.8-inch 16:9 touch screen display. Targeted at international drivers, it offers high contrast and wide angle viewing for maximum visibility under all driving conditions.

The wide screen also offers a linear display (Dynamic Routing Information) of route points, fuel stations and other POIs (points of interest). Sony says that this type of display might improve driver safety and security especially when traveling on an unfamiliar route. This Dynamic Routing Information is shown on the same screen alongside the map view allowing you to visualize "what's coming up next".

The device also comes with 2GB of flash memory with new Memory Stick slot for easy addition of new maps and Points of Interest over Europe. And it also boasts live traffic info. You will also get various accessories like a "Super Suction Cup", car battery adaptor, USB cable and application data disc.

The NV-U82 has the same display size, but only holds 512 MB of flash and will not give you any traffic updates. Both are 20 mm (0.79-inches) thick and include Unique Sony Position Plus (accurate route guidance) in order to allow you to check your location even if you happen to drive through a tunnel, for instance.

The NV-U72T comes with an interesting windshield mount that folds neatly into the body of the unit for transportation or storage. The device also introduces a "gesture command" which lets you sketch a simple figure on the screen with your finger in order to tell the device to show you the way to a gas station, for example.

The "bag portables" NV-U72T and NV-U52 don't come with accurate route guidance and include smaller 3.5-inch touch screens. The U72T mimics the NV-U92T and U82 by featuring a 2GB of flash and traffic updates while the U52 gets the smaller 512 MB of flash and no updates. The devices will only be available in late spring 2007, but you can get one by pre-order. No word on the prices yet.
