Sony has officially announced the first version of its Lifelog app aimed at wearables. For the time being, Lifelog (and the SmartBand) is optimized for the Xperia Z2 and compatible with devices running Android 4.4. KitKat, including the Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1 Compact.

Sony is actively working to improve the app, so in the upcoming weeks, it will extend its compatibility with other devices.

Sony was expected to reveal both the SmartBand fitness tracker and Lifelog app in March, but apparently, the company took a little bit more to do so.

Anyway, the Lifelog app has arrived and can be downloaded from the Google Play store. Also, the SmartBand wearable appears to be available for purchase exclusively from Newegg for a price-tag of $140 / €102.

Sony says that the SmartBand will let you discover how you are living your life, while the Lifelog app will complement the experience by providing you with the information about your communications, entertainment and physical activities.

Lifelog lies at the center of what Sony calls SmartWear Experience. The application is supposed to enhance your life-style by helping you make more informed decisions about what you should do with your time (for example you’ve spent too much hours at the office this week and you should go for a run in the park).
