It seems that the last minute decision to delay the upcoming Gran Turismo 5 didn't exactly make Sony quite happy, according to the game's North American executive producer.

Gran Turismo 5, one of the most expected racing games in the last few years, has been a long time coming, but after another few delays, the title was seemingly set to finally be launched this November.

As we found out yesterday, that wasn't so, as the game was confirmed to be delayed once more, this time aiming for a holiday season release, and no other details were given.

Now, a few reactions from Polyphony Digital, the game's developer, and other Sony executives have appeared.

Posting on his Twitter page, the game's lead designer, Kazonuri Yamauchi, was extremely sad about the decision taken by his studio, calling it inexcusable, but says that the extra time will be spent ironing out even the slightest kinks from the racing simulator.

"It's because time and labor were spent ironing the kinks out of [the game's] complex system. I'm really sorry. Everyone, it's inexcusable... Wait a little longer."

The game's executive producer, Taku Imasaki, said that the decision to delay the game was actually taken yesterday, and, as you can imagine, he and his team aren't happy about the tough call.

"We're really close, but this was an executive decision that was made yesterday. Realistically, we thought we had a good date. We're not happy over here."

According to him, Sony is now "shooting for it to be out by the holidays. You won't see too much more delay."

Gran Turismo 5 was first announced in 2006, and its rumored development cost is somewhere over 60 million U.S. dollars.

The title will feature close to 1,000 vehicles, including some of the best supercars available, and close to 70 different tracks on which to race all of them.
