The two consoles might soon be included in the same package

Besides releasing a variety of bundles with devices like the PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Vita, Sony is also considering a special package with both consoles plus games that support the Cross-play mechanic, but it’s yet to reach a decision about such an offer.

Sony is currently focusing on two big platforms: the PlayStation 3, which just saw the release of the redesigned Super Slim version, and the PlayStation Vita, which is getting ready for a pretty bright holiday season in terms of games.

In order to attract all-new customers, Sony is getting ready to deploy a variety of bundles for the two consoles, which include different games and accessories.

According to Sony’s UK Managing Director, Fergal Gara, the company is constantly thinking about new bundles and might even combine the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation Vita into a single package.

“We'd have nothing against that whatsoever,” Gara told CVG about the possible PS3 + Vita bundle.

“And it's not out of the question that we would do that this Christmas if we wanted to. We put together packages for retail, and there's no reason why we shouldn't create a 'Vita plus PS3' bundle, which could feature games that use cross-play, as well as include a PlayStation Plus subscription that both devices could use.”

Considering Sony is heavily promoting the two consoles through a variety of mechanics and systems, like Cross-play or Cross-buy, such a bundle would make sense, according to Gara.

“There is really a story there of the two consoles building a partnership. 'Better together', as I say. If we want to continue to promote the partnership between PS3 and Vita, we have to look at ways in which we can show that. Is a dual-console bundle box a perfect solution to that? I'm not sure, I think there's scope to have deals where people buy both the Vita and PS3, along with cross-play games and get a discount, that's a possibility right now.”

Bear in mind that this isn’t a confirmation just yet, so who knows if such a bundle will appear in the future.
