The team working on the PlayStation Vita at Sony is hinting that the company is getting ready to implement a big marketing and game reveal push for the device, designed to improve its long-term prospects.

Shahid Kamal Ahmad, the senior business development manager at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, tells Gamasutra that “Sometimes things can happen and they can dramatically change the evolution in terms of sales of a platform.”

The executive is not ready to offer any more details on what Sony might have planned.

Fans of the company have suggested that a price cut could be implemented in the fall, when a big new title for the Vita is also launched, possibly linked to a coming PS4 project.

Sony estimates that it will sell five million PlayStation handhelds during the coming fiscal year.
