The Resistance series of shooters has been around for quite some time but it seems that, as of yet, owner Sony has no definitive plans for its future.

The Resistance franchise made its debut on the PlayStation 3 right alongside the new console and quickly impressed many gamers. It was followed by two other installments on the PS3, as well as one on the PlayStation Portable and another on the PS Vita.

Given the lackluster sales of Resistance 3 and Resistance: Burning Skies, however, it seems that the franchise might not return anytime soon.

According to Sony’s Daniel Brooke, who talked with OPM UK, via CVG, “The Resistance Franchise has been exciting to work on but as for the future, we have no definitive plans."

Given the fact that its original developer, Insomniac Games, no longer makes games exclusively for PlayStation platforms, it’s quite possible that we won’t see a new Resistance game anytime soon.
