Sony Gets Haircut and Loses Wires

Among so many producers going wireless it was time for Sony to cut off the wires from some top-shelf equipment as well. Not that this could bring Sony in row with the absolute leaders in this field (Etymotic, Bose, Sennheiser, just to name
few of them) but it was an altogether nice move.

Things are even more interesting especially as the headphones Sony has chosen for the "haircut" are some sort of flagship in the product range; the DR-BT50, successors of the DR-BT21G have made the transition to the new level.

The DR-BT50 will blast in your ears sounds between 20 Hz and 20kHz so they will practically cover all the audible range; it's true, no fancy stuff like one could meet in other more or less similar pieces of gear (14Hz - 24kHz, for example); nevertheless, far more than usual headsets offer.

They weigh a total of 180 grams but do not despair, as this weight is nothing one can't live with: you'll just know the headphones are there in place. The nicest thing is that these wireless Sony cans are Bluetooth-connected (unlike other infrared or RF headphones, the "already old" ones) so you'll be able to work on the volume using the built-in remote.

Energy in Sony's DR-BT50 will last for roughly 200 hours of standby and will give you about 17 hours of listening per charge. Thinking that they are one of the nice, hi-end, almost audiophile-grade headphones from Sony and they'll be worth somewhere around $230, available from April on, I guess there will be a lot of people buying them and why not even making a bestseller out of them.
