For some reason or other, the company is making some serious adjustments

We suppose it had to happen at some point, that Sony would hit a tight enough snag that it would have no other recourse but to cut its losses in an almost literal fashion.

Sony has decided to drastically reduce its workforce, although at least it isn't forcing its burdens on just the little people.

What we mean to say is that employees aren't the only ones who will suffer, so to speak.

While 10,000 jobs will be cut, Sony has also requested, or will request, that seven executives forgo their bonuses.

Of course, the difference in “hardship” between the two is miles-wide, but still, a concession is a concession, even if minimal.

The reason behind this tough decision is the $3.2 billion loss recorded in 2011 (2.44 billion Euro).

Keep in mind that this all comes from a still unconfirmed report. It is possible that none of it will actually happen, or that some less severe measures will be enacted.
