Sony is one of the world’s most prolific camera makers, but apart from that, the company is also in the business of making camcorders.

And back at the National Association of Broadcasters Show 2013, Sony put on display an FZ-mount camera capable of recording 4K video. But there was a peculiarity about it, the device looked like a DSLR. An interesting approach on behalf of Sony.

So we have all been wondering whether a Sony FZ-mount 4K video DSLR camera will ever make it on the market or not.

But, according to the recent rumors reported by Sony Alpha Rumors, the camera will not make it on the market for the general consumer-base to pick up. It appears the device spotted at the NAB Show 2013 was just a prototype to test the reactions of consumers.

Interestingly enough, we have to suppose the reaction to the camera have been negative, but I can’t really put my finger on it and explain why.

It might have had to do with the fact that some voices claimed a camcorder should boast the shape of a regular camcorder and not be so similar to a DSLR.

This is based on the idea that a camera’s design should reflect the main functionality and not be elusive, but the design incongruities don’t seem to be reason enough for Sony to drop the project altogether.
