Japanese-Swedish mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson is expected to bring to the market in the United States a new device in the not too far future, on the airwaves of AT&T, namely the new Sony Ericsson Xperia arc smartphone.

This is only a rumor for the time being, but it is based on the fact that the Xperia arc has already passed through the Federal Communication Commission's hallways, and that a User Agent Profil (UAProf) listing suggests it would land at AT&T, Pocketnow notes.

The Sony Ericsson model that received the necessary FCC approvals comes with support for AT&T's network, but that alone is not a clear indicator that it would indeed be launched on the local market.

However, the said UAProf listing shows that Sony Ericsson is gearing up for the release of a LT15at device model, which would be closely related to the LT15a device Sony Ericsson unveiled to the world as the Xperia arc.

Given the change in model numbering from LT15a to LT15at, one can only imagine that this would be the AT&T flavor of the Xperia arc smartphone.

The specifications list of the mobile phone would remain the same as those on the original, with a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon application processor inside, and 512MB of RAM to accompany it.

The Xperia arc also comes to the market with a 4.2-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a 480 x 854 pixel (FWVGA) resolution, as well as with a curved back design.

The mobile phone sports an eight-megapixel camera with LED flash, with the mobile Exmor R backlit image sensor for great photo quality.

It includes expanded connectivity capabilities too, with 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth into the mix, as well as USB slot, 3.5mm headphone jack, or built-in GPS receiver.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia arc runs under Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, and provides users with support for the whole range of Google Mobile Services, as well as for applications available for download via the Android Market.
