Many months have passed since Sony Ericsson Z310a was approved by FCC, but the device hits the US market only now, at AT&T. Although low-end, the phone is stylish and has high chances to be just the right thing for those who want a fashionable handset, but can't afford a more
expensive one.
The device features smooth and
elegant lines, which make it quite stylish. The external display of this clamshell surely adds to the positive first impression, although it is monocrome. It has a black background, which makes it look like part of the front case. Although elegant, the handset also brings one major drawback, as its 24.5 mm thickness will feel bulky for most users.
Sony Ericsson Z310a manages to pack most of the performances that more evolved handsets bring, but at lower levels. The phone has a built-in memory of 14 MB and no possibility of increasing it through a microSD card. Connectivity is available through Bluetooth, Infrared and USB too. That's a lot of data transfer possibilities, also adding GPRS and EDGE.
The fact that this device is capable of sending MMS and email messages too will surely make a difference, as few devices in this price range are capable of providing. Moreover, the HTML browser also makes it possible to manage the personal blogs right from the handset, although a QWERTY
keypad would be most suitable for such a service.
The VGA camera brings image captures of only the lowest
performances, but there are many people out there that don't actually need this feature. Sony Ericsson Z310a also includes a music player, capable of supporting some of the most important sound formats, which takes care of the entertainment.
Sony Ericsson Z310a will be available in two colors, Jet Black and Lush Pink, to appeal to both men and women. It will sell at AT&T from now on, for free with a two-year contract, or USD 180 without it.
