Sony Ericsson announced recently the release of yet another handset meant to offer an enhanced mobile experience to all mobile users around the world, the Sony Ericsson Yari. The new handset, the company says, has been developed so as to deliver the ultimate in mobile fun, both in the gaming and multimedia segments.

The new device comes with a gesture gaming technology meant to offer a unique experience no matter the location. In addition, users will also have a wide range of game titles to choose from, which can offer them the possibility to have fun playing them while also enabling them to stay in shape by using the new Sony Ericsson Yari. The phone supports not only gesture games, but also comes with a mix of preloaded motion and standard titles, while also enabling users to access all the games from the desktop or to download new ones from the PlayNow arena.

“Yari is the industry’s first mobile phone with gesture gaming outside of the Japanese market,” said Catherine Cherry, market business manager at Sony Ericsson. “It’s time to move like you’ve never moved on a mobile phone before! With Gesture gaming you move your body to play instead of pressing buttons on the phone, giving you a fun experience that even helps you keep fit. If you’ve exhausted yourself with the games there are loads of other multimedia features to enjoy. Snap your friends with the five-megapixel camera or chill out to your favourite tunes with the state-of-the art music player.”

What Yari can offer includes gesture and motion gaming for action on and off the screen, A/B buttons – gaming shortcut keys, the gaming carousel that gives direct access to games from the desktop, state-of-the art music player and stereo speakers for easy listening, music call – one-button press to share favorite tracks while talking – a 5.0-megapixel camera and the possibility to send location by SMS.

The specs list of the phone shows a 2.4-inch display with a 240 x 320 pixel resolution and support for 262,144 colors, 60MB of internal memory, microSD memory card for additional storage space, Bluetooth connectivity, USB mass storage, FM radio with RDS, Video streaming capabilities, support for Google Maps and YouTube, Exchange ActiveSync, MMS, Instant messaging, Email, and more. Sony Ericsson Yari comes with support for GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS/HSUPA 900/2100 connectivity and is expected to become available on the market in the fourth quarter of the ongoing year in two color versions, Achromatic Black and Cranberry White.
