Yet another Android-based mobile phone from Sony Ericsson is now available for purchase in the UK, namely the Sony Ericsson Xperia ray, a device that made an appearance on the floor at IFA 2011 in Berlin.

The handset was unveiled to the world in June this year, but it is only now that Sony Ericsson has finally managed to bring it to shelves.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia ray was listed on Amazon UK's website last week with an expected release date of September 5th, and the retailers have it up for sale starting today.

However, those who will order one unit will have to wait for a few days before receiving their device. Amazon UK notes that it will be shipped in 4 to 5 days following the purchase.

The Xperia ray features a price tag of £349.99 at the leading retailers, yet it is being sold SIM free and unlocked, which sounds like a nice deal, that's for sure.

Sony Ericsson Xperia ray comes to the market with a 3.3-inch touchscreen display and a fast 1GHz application processor inside, while running under Google's Android v2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system.

“9.4 mm thin and with a stylish aluminium frame: meet the Xperia ray Android phone. Watch videos and relive magic moments on the crisp 3.3' Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine,” Amazon notes on its website.

“Experience genuine Sony Ericsson sound. Deep, punchy bass. Balanced, clean and dynamic audio reproduction. LiveSound hi-fi headset. Premium design. Flat tangle-free cables. LiveKey app control. And remote on-cable music and call-handling. LiveSound. Engineered for music lovers.”

On the back, the new mobile phone features an 8.1-megapixel photo snapper with HD 720p video recording capabilities, an Exmor R CMOS sensor, complemented by a front-facing camera for video calling.

The specs list of this device also includes 1GB of internal memory, along with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space, FM radio, 3.5mm headphone jack, built-in GPS receiver, and a high capacity battery.
