Japanese-Swedish mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson has made a new Android-based device available for purchase in the UK, namely the Xperia neo.

The mobile phone is now available for purchase in the country via various retailers, featuring price tags that range from £342 to as much as £409.99.

The handset was unveiled to the world in February, along with other Xperia handsets from the company, such as the Xperia pro and Xperia PLAY.

However, due to the earthquake that struck Japan in March, the mobile phone was delayed by a few months, and it is only now that it finally reaches shelves.

The Xperia neo was launched as a mid-range mobile phone, cheaper than the high-end Xperia arc or Xperia PLAY, but with a series of specs and features that brought it close to these two devices.

The mobile phone can be seen listed as available for purchase and in stock at Expansys here, with a price tag of £379.99 attached to it, and with a shipping period of 3-4 days. It is available in a blue color as well, priced at only £369.99.

At Clove, the handset sports the lowest price tag in the UK at the moment, only £342, and the retailer lists it as available now as well.

Amazon has the mobile phone available for £409.99 SIM-free and unlocked, and says that it will have it in stock only starting with July 24th, which is about a month from now.

Xperia neo was launched with a 3.7” Reality display with the Mobile BRAVIA Engine, and with a fast 1GHz application processor hidden beneath it.

It comes with an 8.1 Megapixel camera on the back, with the Exmor R sensor, auto focus, flash, and support for HD (720p) video recording.

The specs list of this device also shows WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, built-in GPS receiver, HDMI connection, and ergonomic design, Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform on board, with specific features and applications from Sony Ericsson. (via)
