Canadian mobile phone carrier Rogers has made available for download a new software update for its Sony Ericsson Xperia arc users, bringing their devices up to OS version Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread (from the Android 2.3.2 flavor they were running under when released).

This might not be the latest version of Android for mobile phones available on the market at the moment, but it still comes with a nice range of enhancements when compared to the initial Android 2.3 Gingerbread release.

As soon as the new OS flavor is installed on their devices, the owners of a Sony Ericsson Xperia arc on Rogers' airwaves will enjoy battery performance enhancements, along with better HD video recording, and increased stability for Wi-Fi connections, reports emerged.

Among the various improvements that the new operating system upgrade brings to the owners of an Xperia arc, we can count the inclusion of the new Facebook inside Xperia software, coming from Sony Ericsson themselves.

Facebook inside Xperia was launched only recently on two new handsets from the company, the Xperia mini and mini pro, and will arrive on all other Android-based Sony Ericsson devices that support Gingerbread.

The software integrates Facebook throughout the user interface on the mobile phone, so that users can easily share music, photos, videos, and more with their friends on the social networking site.

The integration also results in the ability to easily sync Facebook events with the calendar, access photos in a single place, and do much more.

The new Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread software should arrive on Rogers' mobile phones as an over the air update, and users will receive a notification on its availability.

Before downloading and installing it, users should charge the battery inside their phones, and they should also perform a backup of all files on the handset, just to make sure than none is lost during the installation process (via).
