It comes with Gingerbread, 1.4 Ghz CPU and 8-megapixel camera

The successor of the Xperia arc has just made its debut in India. Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S is now available for purchase for Rs 26,995 ($535 or 395 EUR) outright.

Although it comes with an improved processor, the Xperia arc S is around $70 (50 EUR) more expensive than the original Xperia arc model at Letsbuy.

Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S was officially unveiled back in August and made quite an appearance at this year's IFA trade fair.

The smartphone is aimed at Android fans who are looking for a good camera phone.

Xperia arc S comes with an enhanced 8-megapixel camera with LED flash and autofocus, which features lots of extra functions that add more functionality: video calling, Touch focus, Geo-tagging, Face and Smile Detection, 3D Sweep Panorama and Image stabilization.

In addition, the Xperia arc S has a brilliant 4.2-inch LED-Backlit LCD capacitive touchscreen with scratch-resistant surface, which is based on Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine.

There are also several sensors included as well, such as accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate and proximity sensor for auto turn-off.

As we already mentioned, Xperia arc S is powered by Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread operating system and Sony Ericsson's highly-acclaimed Timescape user interface.

Hardware-wise, the Xperia arc S is equipped with a 1.4 GHz single core Qualcomm MSM8255T Snapdragon CPU, an Adreno 205 graphics processing unit, 1 GB of RAM, 512 MB of RAM as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 8GB memory card included).

On the connectivity front, the phone offers HSDPA and HSUPA, microUSD, as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, which allows users to connect wirelessly to the desired devices for transferring music, videos and images.

There's also an HDMI port, Stereo FM Radio, Document viewer and Adobe Flash 10.3 support that provides a better browsing experience for rich-content websites.
