Canadian carrier Fido has already confirmed that the Xperia pro will be launched in the near future, along with LG Optimus 2X and Samsung Galaxy Q, but the operator has yet to announce that phone's exact release data and price tag.

According to an internal document leaked via MobileSyrup, the Xperia pro will be available at Fido sometime in mid-August.

Furthermore, it appears that Best Buy has already put a price for the Xperia pro, as the smartphone will be available for as low as $49.99 with a new three-year agreement.

However, there is no information regarding the phone's suggested retail price yet, but rumors suggest that the Xperia pro will be available for purchase for around $450 outright.

Although Sony Ericsson initially stated that the Xperia pro will be available sometime in July, it appears that the handset maker was forced to delay the smartphone due to the catastrophic events in Japan.

The Xperia pro will be the last to hit shelves from the next generation of smartphones announced back in February, at the 2011 Mobile World Congress.

The phone's slider form factor seems to make it the perfect option as business phone, especially that it comes with the latest Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) platform on board.

Sony Ericsson Xperia pro is equipped with a single core Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon 1 GHz processor and features a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard that enables users to text faster.

Although the device embeds 1GB of internal memory, only 320MB are user available. In addition, Xperia pro features 512MB RAM as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 8GB memory card included).

Another strong point of the phone is the 3.7-inch LED-backlit LCD capacitive multi-touch screen, which is based on Sony's Mobile BRAVIA Engine.

In addition, the phone boasts an 8-megapixel monster camera with autofocus, LED flash, touch focus, face and smile detection and video recording capabilities (720p@30fps), as well as secondary VGA front-facing camera for video calls.
