Japanese Swedish mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson is expected to bring to the market a new Android-based device in the not-too-distant future, its first handset to sport a dual-core application processor, which should sport the name of Xperia Duo, it seems.

The mobile phone was spotted into the wild before, though the first rendering with it was not of the highest quality.

Today, a new photo with the handset is available for your viewing pleasure (apparently being a leaked press shot), enabling us have a better look at what the handset vendor has in store for its users.

The new smartphone, unofficial at the moment, is expected to arrive on the market sometime in September, and should become the next flagship handset from the company.

Since Sony Ericsson did not confirm the existing of this device, nor the release date, we'll take the info with a grain of salt for the time being, but we'll keep an eye out for additional details on the matter.

In addition to the new photo and the rumored release date, some leaked info on the handset's release date also emerged, suggesting that Sony Ericsson would plan on packing it with a dual-core chipset inside.

The phone might include the NovaThor A9500 or U8500 chips or the Qualcomm MSM8260, with the two cores clocked in at 1.4GHz.

On top of that, the handset would include 1.5GB of RAM, and should sport a large 4.5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a qHD resolution.

The Mobile BRAVIA engine that is present on all of the latest Xperia handsets would be included on Xperia Duo as well, rumor has it.

On the back, the upcoming device would sport a 12-megapixel photo snapper (with the Exmor R CMOS sensor for mobile), which will certainly offer HD video recording capabilities, and other features as well.

Xperia Duo should run under Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, and is said to sport a 2500mAh battery inside.
