Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10, the first Android-based handset the Japanese-Swedish phone maker is set to bring to the market, has just been officially announced. Available starting the first quarter of the next year, the new handset is designed to deliver great communications and entertainment features to users, while also coming with great looks and an attractive UX. A quick look at the photos below will show you both how this handset looks like and what UI it is set to come with.

The mobile phone has made headlines many times before, when it was known as the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X3 or Rachael, and we've already seen a series of specifications on it, only that now they are all official. When available on various markets around the world in Q1 2010 (an XPERIA X10a should come to the United States), the phone will bring along powerful hardware, as well as appealing capabilities.

The specs list of XPERIA X10 includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 processor clocked in at 1GHz, 4.0-inch touchscreen display that boasts a 480 x 854 pixel resolution (WVGA), support for 262,144 colors and is scratch resistant, and 8.1-megapixel photo snapper with Auto focus, face recognition, Geo tagging, Smile detection, and Video recording capabilities, and support for UMTS HSPA 900/1700/2100 and GSM GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 (UMTS HSPA 800/1900/2100 and GSM GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900) network frequencies.

In addition, the handset will come along with Bluetooth stereo (A2DP) capabilities, Wi-Fi connectivity, Micro USB connector, A-GPS (with support for Google Maps), 3.5 mm audio jack, 1 GB of internal memory, microSD memory card slot with an 8GB card included in the package, Speakerphone, WebKit web browser, Media player and Google search capabilities, as well as Google Android 1.6 operating system (Donut), Gesture control, support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, MMS, SMS and email, Video streaming and Auto rotate. The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 measures 119 x 63 x 13 mm and weighs 135 grams. It will come to the market in two color versions, Sensuous Black and Luster White, and will include a wide range of preloaded applications, such as Sony Ericsson Timescape, Sony Ericsson Mediascape, Sony Ericsson Home with clock widget, Sony Ericsson Sync, Android Market Client, Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Maps with Street View, Google Media Uploader, Google phone-top search, Google search widget, Google Talk, Google Voice Search, Network Location Provider, Set-up Wizard, and YouTube.
