Wireless carrier Vodafone UK has recently put up for pre-order yet another high-end mobile phone, the Sony Ericsson X10. According to the company, the handset is set for delivery on April 6, and it comes for free upon the signing of a 24-month contract agreement on a £35 per month plan, which comes with 900 anytime minutes, unlimited texts and more.

The new mobile phone runs under Google's Android 1.6 operating system, but its maker already announced that it would be upgraded to a newer version of the OS within the following few months. With a large display and an 8.1-megapixel photo snapper, the phone seems set to appeal a lot to users out there, especially since it also comes with a wide range of other features and capabilities.

Here's what the carrier says about the phone: “The incredible Sony Ericsson X10 is powered by Android. So it's easy to sync with your Google account - and with Picasa, Google's popular photo sharing site. It's a looker too, with a huge four inch touchscreen that'll blow you away. Switch fast to widescreen by turning the X10 on its side. Then enjoy movies and the web in stunning definition - as well as photos taken with its 8.1 megapixel camera.”

The specifications list of the handset includes Bluetooth connectivity, Wi-Fi capabilities, HSDPA, built-in GPS navigation, 1GB of internal memory, a memory card slot for additional storage space, 4-inch touchscreen display and great multimedia capabilities, all packed inside a device that measures 119.0 x 63.0 x 13.0 mm and weighs in at 135g.

Sony Ericsson X10 also comes with support for a series of Google services and applications, as well as with access to the Android Market, from where more applications can be downloaded and installed on the device. Not to mention that it also includes Sony Ericsson's Timescape and Mediascape software solutions, meant to greatly enhance the user experience delivered by the handset. Additional details on the phone and its availability at Vodafone UK can be found on the carrier's website.
