Sony Ericsson plans on releasing six more entry-level handsets in 2008 for the Taiwanese market. This comes as part of the company's considerable economical growth in the last year.

A Chinese-language Commercial Times report has noticed that there is a high chance for Sony Ericsson to enter six more mobile phone models in 2008. This would come as part of surpassing the 20 million units that are expected to be sold this year in Taiwan.

The six phone models will be split between two different ODM makers that currently help Sony Ericsson bring its latest mobile phone models to the Taiwanese market. Thus, three phone models will be sent to Arima Communicatons and three others will go to Chi Mei Communication Systems (CMCS), an affiliate of Foxconn International Holfings (FIH).

It is also in the interest of the two companies to help Sony Ericsson bring these six entry-level handsets. The mobile phone company has managed to reach the highest profit growth from all other handset producers, considering the results of the latest reports. They reveal the fact that Sony Ericsson is the only such company that has managed to register a 50 percent increase in profit.

Even more, their strategy of bringing entry-level mobile phones on Taiwan's market is a strategy that greatly resembles that of Nokia. This type of devices have proved to be extremely successful for Sony Ericsson's main competitor, which has managed to also increase its profit rates through promoting their low-end devices in Asia and Africa.

Compal Communications also tried to receive an order from Sony Ericsson in order to contribute to introducing the new phone models in Taiwan, but in the end it has found itself to be left aside. This shows the fact that these ODM makers have high hopes in the success that Sony Ericsson's devices will have after their release, next year.
