A "clear audio experience" coming your way

Sony Ericsson is getting ready to release its newest high-end Walkman handset, the W980, first announced back in February, during MWC 2008. The Swedish-Japanese company made public a new teaser video with W980, which can only mean that the release date of the phone is getting closer.

Coming after several other promo videos with Sony Ericsson's new phones (W760, G700, G702 and G900, for example), the clip with W980 promises users a "clear audio experience".

The W980 was designed to be the best-looking Walkman clamshell and it also seems to be the most advanced Walkman phone to come in this form factor. The best features of the handset include: stereo speakers with high-quality sound, external and easy to use music keys, 8GB of built-in memory, Walkman player with Equalizer and lots of other functions, shake control, TackID music recognition, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, plus FM radio (with RDS) and FM transmitter.

Furthermore, Sony Ericsson W980 has a 2.2 inch internal TFT display with 256K colors, an external one with 176 x 176 pixels and the same number of colors, quad-band GSM connectivity (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) plus 3G / HSDPA 2100 for high data transfer speeds, a 3.15 Megapixel camera, email and Web capabilities, and a 930 mAh battery that can offer about 20 hours of continuous music playback, up to 9 hours of talk-time and up to 370 hours of stand-by time. There's no microSD card slot included in the W980, but I don't think anyone could complain about the huge internal memory.

There are no details yet about the retail price of W980, nor about its exact release date or the countries where it will be first available. Anyway, the new video with the phone can be seen either below or on Sony Ericsson's website, at this address. Enjoy!
