As promised last week, Sony Ericsson has unveiled today three of its new Walkman handsets, two candybars and a slider.

The phone that deserves our full attention is undoubtedly the W902, the first Sony Ericsson Wakman to pack a 5 Megapixel photo camera. Said to be the perfect combination between a music-oriented device and a photography one, the W902 comes with lots of high-end features. Although not all of these features have been unveiled by Sony Ericsson, we know that the W902 brings the following: an "outstanding music sound", "retro music navigation keys", a 2.2 inch scratch-resistant TFT mineral glass display, an 8GB Memory Stick Micro card, Google maps, accelerometer, Shake Control and, of course, the already mentioned 5 Megapixel camera with flash and auto focus. Furthermore, the new Walkman handset features quad-band GSM connectivity as well as HSDPA, which means it will be able to work in most of the markets around the world (including the US).

Measuring 110 x 49 x 11.7 millimeters and weighing 100 grams, Sony Ericsson W902 will be commercially available starting the fourth quarter of 2008, in three color versions (all-black, black/red and black/green), for a retail price that has not been announced yet.

The second new Walkman phone, Sony Ericsson W595, is a slider that comes with fewer features than the W902 but it still looks to be a very nice device. The W595 packs a 3.2 Megapixel camera, a 2GB memory card and global GSM connectivity (plus HSDPA), which are good features, that's for sure. The new slider will hit the market at about the same time as the W902, in three color versions (white, blue and grey) and in three editions: W595, W595a and W595c.

Sony Ericsson W302 is another Walkman candybar, targeted for users who can't afford high-end devices but do want a nice handset. At only 10.5 millimeters in thickness, the W302 features: Music player, FM radio, a 2 Megapixel camera and a 512MB Memory Stick Micro card. As the other two new SE phones, the W302 will be available in the fourth quarter of 2008 (in two color versions: Sparkling White and Midnight Black).

Talking about the new music handsets, Ben Padley, Head of the Music Category at Sony Ericsson, stated: "Since the launch of our first Walkman phone in 2005, Sony Ericsson has continued to pioneer a superior mobile music experience - and the 77 million Walkman phones sold to date are testament to this commitment. With this latest range of phones and accessories, we are offering high quality sound and a rich feature set that cements our position as a leader in the music phone category. We are pushing the boundaries of what people think is possible and are offering best-in-class sound quality and our most exciting Walkman phones to date."

All in all, the new W902, W595 and W302 seem to be cool handsets that can attract lots of users, so let's wait for their availability and see if, with them, "music is reborn", as Sony Ericsson says.
