By: Florin Troaca, Communications News Editor

Sony Ericsson W890, one of the latest handsets from the Walkman series, is now available in India and is set to lure Indian mobile users who need a good looking phone
with evolved music and multimedia capabilities.

W890 is a candybar phone that weighs only 78 grams, measures 104 x 46.5 x 10 millimeters and packs HSDPA, GPRS and EDGE connectivity. Its music features include Walkman Player 3.0, TrackID to identify tracks based on audio-fingerprints, SensMe, to play music based on users' mood, PlayNow for easy and fast MP3 downloads, FM Radio with RDS, MegaBass and Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP. Moreover, the handset comes with a 2GB Memory Stick Micro (M2) card, a 240 x 320 pixels TFT display with 262K colors, WAP 2.0 / xHTML and NetFront browsers, RSS reader, a 3.15 Megapixel camera with video recording, secondary camera for video calls, USB 2.0 and a Li-Po 950 mAh battery that should provide up to 9.5 hours of talk-time and about 360 hours of stand-by time.

Speaking about W890, Sudhin Mathur, General Manager at Sony Ericsson India, said: "The W890 Walkman phone is truly a small slim phone that delivers a full Walkman experience with a unique proposition of mega music in mini size. With the W890, we aim to address the needs of young music connoisseurs who demand the latest Walkman features and fast downloads."

Sony Ericsson W890 is not offered by any of the Indian mobile carriers, but it is available via RPG Cellucom, a leading handset and laptop retail chain, and also at Sony Ericsson Experience Stores across the country. The phone can be bought for 15,990 Indian Rupees (about 400 USD), a fair price considering its looks and features, and comes in three color versions: Espresso Black, Sparking Silver and Mocha Brown.
