The Sony Ericsson W880 is finally here. The mobile phone manufacturer has officially released the Walkman phone that has been more or less expected but highly rumored in the past few months.

And it was about time they released it, because all the rumors and suppositions were starting to be a little bit annoying. According to Sony Ericsson the W880/W888 represents a milestone in the Walkman phone portfolio and is one of the slimmest music phones they have ever released which provides 1GB worth of storage space.

The W880 features include Walkman 2.0 player software, Disc2Phone music management, Track ID music recognition application, Bluetooth for connectivity with A2DP support, a 2 megapixel camera with video recording capabilities, audio and video streaming support, picture blogging, full HTML browser and RSS reader.

The slim phone also comes equipped with a 1.8 inch 262k screen with a QVGA resolution and a 1GB Memory Stick Micro (M2) card included in the box. It will apparently last up to 20 hours worth of music playing or up to 6 hours and 30 minutes of talk time.

Most of the features the phone includes aren't really a surprise and have been mentioned before the release. In the end, it looks like most of the recent rumors regarding this phone were true.

The mobile phone comes with a brushed stainless steel finish case and is available in two color variants, Steel Silver and Flame Black. The W880 working on 900/1800/1900 and UMTS 2100 with GPRS support will be available in the first quarter of the year, while the W888 is a GSM variant without 3G support that is intended specifically for China, where 3G services are not yet established.
