For any appearance you might want

First released back in October 2007 for the Japanese market, Sony Ericsson W53S is now available with no less than 100 different faces, created either by Sony Ericsson, Disney or by famous designers from Tokyo or around the world. This makes the device the "most customizable" mobile phone created until now.

Although it doesn't have the high-end features of BRAVIA SO906i, another handset recently released by Sony Ericsson in Japan, the W53S will probably attract users thanks to the fact that it can easily change its appearance. I must admit that the image with the 100 faces of the handset does look impressive - although some of the faces are unattractive (to me, at least).

By default, the W53S comes with only one face but users can buy any of the other 99 faces (also known as panels), or even all of them, and can change the appearance of the handset everyday, according to their mood.

Aside from the 100 faces that Sony Ericsson W53S can have, the features of the handset include: a 2.7 inch TFT internal display with 240 x 432 pixels and 260 colors, a 1 inch OLED external screen, built-in GPS with maps, a 2 Megapixel camera with auto focus, flash and video recording, a "Jog Dial" navigation pad, Web and email capabilities, Media player, access to music and video online stores, two 3D stereo speakers, mobile wallet, 100MB of built-in memory and microSD card support. Coming in a clamshell form factor, the W53S weighs 117 grams and, when closed, it measures 107 x 49 x 20 millimeters.

Unfortunately, Sony Ericsson W53S and its 100 faces are only available via au KDDI and only in Japan. Therefore, users who might like the handset and its faces but don't live in the Asian country will probably never get the chance to buy a W53S.
