Somewhere in Taiwan

The W350 handset was first announced by Sony Ericsson at the beginning of January, during CES 2008, together with the high-end W760. Neither of the two Walkman phones was released yet, but the W350 was recently spotted on sale in a mobile shop from Taiwan, for an unknown price. Anyway, knowing this, it seems Sony Ericsson sticks to its plan to launch the phone in "Q2 2008", so the W350 will probably be soon available both in Europe and America.

Sony Ericsson W350 is an entry-level music-oriented phone that will come in three versions: W350c for China, W350a for America (only Brazil, unfortunately), and W350i for Europe and the rest of the markets.

W350 has a pretty weird form factor for a phone made in 2008, as it's not a candybar and neither a clamshell, but a bit of both. The handset comes with a flip cover over its alpha-numeric keypad, which provides music control keys. Measuring only 104 x 43 x 10.5 millimeters and weighing 80 grams, Sony Ericsson W350 features a 1.9 inch TFT display with 262K colors and 176 x 220 pixels, Walkman player, FM radio with RDS, TrackID for easy music recognition, PlayNow compatibility, a 1.3 Megapixel camera with video recording, Access NetFront Web browser, RSS reader, push e-mail (POP3 and IMAP4 supported), Media Manager content transfer software, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0, 3D gaming capabilities, Java MIDP 2.0, picture viewer / editor and only 14MB of internal memory (fortunately, the phone comes with a 512MB memory card in the package).

The battery included in the W350 is capable of providing up to 7 hours of talk-time and up to 300 hours of standby time. The handset should cost somewhere around $200 (130 Euro) and it will be available in four colors: Hypnotic black, Electric black, Graphic white and Ice blue. But until you get the chance to actually buy a W350, enjoy the leaked images below.
