Sony Ericsson's latest mobile phone, the Vivaz, is now officially official. One PR agency has mistakenly delivered the info on the phone's launch earlier than expected, and then pulled it all off. Yet, now the phone can be seen on Sony Ericsson's website, along with all the necessary specifications, and a promo video that shows what it can do when launched on the market in the first quarter of the ongoing year. That 8.1-megapixel photo snapper is there, along with the Symbian OS, and a new design philosophy the company introduced with Xperia X10, ’human curvature’.

“User-generated content, especially video, is exploding on the web,” said Lennard Hoornik, head of Marketing, Sony Ericsson. “With Sony Ericsson Vivaz, we have created a mobile phone that makes it easy to catch life in high quality video and upload that self expression onto the web to share with the world. Sony Ericsson Vivaz™ offers beauty inside and out with an open and intuitive user experience allowing consumers to capture, view and share their lives and spontaneity in HD quality.”

The specifications list of Sony Ericsson Vivaz also includes the 3.2-inch touchscreen display, the 8.1 megapixel camera with a great deal of features, including continuous auto focus for video, Geo tagging, smile detection, video light and face detection, a 3.5 mm audio jack, A-GPS, Bluetooth, Micro USB connector, TV out, Wi-Fi, Email, Instant messaging, Text messaging (SMS), Picture messaging (MMS), support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and WebKit web browser.

The handset comes with support for UMTS HSPA 900/2100 MHz and GSM GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz frequencies, measures 107 x 521.7 x 12.5 mm and weighs in at 97 grams. It sports a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 16 GB of additional storage space, and ships with an 8 GB microSD card included. Its battery can deliver up to 13 hours of talk time on GSM/GPRS, or up to 430 hours of standby time on the same networks.

A great deal of applications and services will also come around on the device, including access to YouTube and Picasa, or a Facebook application. Sony Ericsson announced that the new Vivaz was expected to become available for purchase in the first quarter of the ongoing year, and that it would arrive in four color options, Moon Silver, Cosmic Black, Galaxy Blue and Venus Ruby. No details on the price tag it might feature have been unveiled at the moment.
