It was just about time for an official announcement of the Sony Ericsson V640i handset. The phone will be available exclusively with Vodafone and will manage to pack solutions to most of the communication needs that its user might have.

The phone manages to combine the producer's line of Walkman phones with the services that Vodafone has to offer for its subscribers. Sony Ericsson V640i has a media player capable of supporting the most frequently used music file formats and also an FM radio to make the entertainment package complete.

The 2 megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom is capable of taking only average quality performances. That's not a reason to worry, as this is not a Cyber-shot model coming from Sony Ericsson. Moreover, its 2 inch screen is capable of supporting a resolution of only 176 x 220 pixels, a fairly low one, by most standards. The phone's sizes are quite small, at 103 x 47 x 15.5 mm and 97 grams, which look great in the sharp, appealing design.

Sony Ericsson V640i is also capable of handling emails, a modern and useful communication alternative coming from a mobile phone. It also includes Bluetooth 2.0 and USB connectivity, two features that prove themselves pretty important with any handset. Moreover, it also has a Memory Stick Micro card slot to add to its internal data storage space.

Peter Marsden, Vice President and Head of the Vodafone customer group at Sony Ericsson, states that "It's designed to allow users to get the most from Vodafone's music services, such as the Vodafone Music Store, without compromising on the ease-to-use and strong design that they expect from a Sony Ericsson". Because of this, "the new V640i is a great all-rounder that is packed with advanced music capabilities", he also added.

Sony Ericsson V640i will be available in two colors, Havana Gold and Quick Black, although previous leaked images showed more options that will probably be released later on. The producer has just announced the phone officially, although he specified that it will hit Vodafone stores without mentioning a specific date but this autumn. The price that the mobile phone will come at has not been revealed either.
