While expecting the phones codenamed Sophia and Maria to be released by Sony Ericsson, the mobile phone company surprisingly released something completely different.

The W660, the manufacturer's newest addition to the Walkman line comes with a pretty stylish design and a nice set of features, so one can't really complain to see it released. According to the Sony Ericsson, it was designed to place an emphasis on style and feel and comes with 'a tactile finish that just begs to be touched'.

'The W660 has a finish that stands out among its peers,? explains Steve Walker, Head of Product Marketing at Sony Ericsson. ?Although the W660 places the emphasis firmly on design, it is also a full member of our Walkman phone family, able to store several hundred full-length songs. That?s important because our research indicates users are listening to more music than ever before ? an average of 4.4 hours a day, according to the latest Sony Ericsson Music Monitor.'

Like most of its Walkman siblings, the W660 comes with TrackID, allowing users to identify a track that they don't recognize, album art support, FM Radio, an included 512MB Memory Stick Micro (storing up to 470 tracks in eAAC+ format) and a 2 megapixel camera. The picture blogging capability will allow the uploading of pictures to a personal blog site. Along with the phone Sony Ericsson has also released the MPS-75 snap-on speakers, a small plug-in unit that is powered by the phone and will allow the user to listen to music out loud.

Sony Ericsson's W660 comes with support for UMTS 2100 and GPRS 900/1800/1900 and will be available in selected markets starting the second quarter of this year. When it becomes available, users will be able to choose from two color varieties, record black and rose red.
