Or at least that's what the things look like for the moment

Sony Ericsson T270 (or T270i) literally disappeared from the Swedish-Japanese company's website, which could mean SE decided to cancel its release. For good. Why would it do that? We can't say for sure.

What we can say, though, is that T280 (or T280i), another phone announced at the same time (end of January) and in the same press release with T270, might be the reason why T270 will no longer be released. The two devices were presented as having exactly the same features and (pretty nice) looks, except the fact that T280 has a photo camera, while T270 doesn't. The lack of the camera in the latter was motivated by Sony Ericsson with the fact that it was targeted for business users - we know that some institutions / organizations do not allow the use of photo cameras within their headquarters.

But I don't really see too many businesspersons who would want to have a low-featured mobile phone (and the two T handsets are quite low in features). Sony Ericsson might have thought about this too, therefore the T270 no longer exists on the company's website and at the link where initially its features and pics were happily welcoming users, now we only get to see an unfriendly "Oh No! 404 - Page not found". Even if you search the T270 in the website's database, there's still no sign of it. This being said, Sony Ericsson T270 is most probably a canceled phone.

Anyway, this cancellation should not come as bad news, since we still have the T280. Sure, the handset only packs an 1.7 inches, 128 x 160 pixels display, 10MB of memory (no microSD slot), a 1.3 Megapixel camera and FM radio, but at least it will be launched. Although not as initially announced (in the first quarter of the year), but only in June, according to the SEMC Blog. Hopefully, T280's price will be in concordance with its features.
