One of the latest phones proposed by Sony-Ericsson is the S710 model which is GSM/GPRS compatible and includes a digital camera able to record MPEG-4 movies and images. The clamshell phone allows fast data transfers through the Class 10 EDGE component which ensures the loading of images, email and attachments at 240 KBps and their downloading at 120 KBps.

The phone has 2.3 inch TFT display with 262,000 colors and 240 x 320 pixels resolution. The model allows the rotation of the main parts of the phone so that to provide optimum usage conditions, regardless of the way the phone is used.

A part of the S710 look like a classic digital camera, and the other emphasizes the regular features of a phone with wireless messaging functions.

The integrated camera offers a 1.3 megapixel resolution, an 8x digital zoom and flash; it also allows night mode photography. The internal memory is provided by a 32 MB Sony Memory Stick which can be used for image storing, documents and video clips. The files can be transferred to a PC, or laptop thorough Bluetooth or the infrared port.

The battery allows seven hours of conversations and 300 hours in stand-by. S710 includes POP3 and IMAP4 email clients, but also simplified communication through SMS, MMS and instant messaging. The phone can display web pages through WAP 2.0 or HTML compact format.

The phone is aimed at businessmen who travel a lot and need to capture images of the places they visit (real estate agents, insurance companies etc.). Sony-Ericsson S710 is available through Cingular Wireless for 449 USD.
