Sony Ericsson made some people quite angry some while ago when they announced that no update for the P990 and W950 will be released. The company changed its mind and recently said that they have started again working on developing upgrades for the software on these devices.

Sony Ericsson promised a new P990 firmware update in August. As the month has started, the company thinks it's about the time to bring out their solutions. As it appears up to this point, Sony Ericsson has managed to fix some of the bugs, although many others remain to make the two phones faulty.

The spacebar bug in O mode has been fixed, as well as the crashes caused by entering too long texts in Messaging and several other text editing applications, such as QuickOffice and Docs To Go. Furthermore, the update also gives 17 MB free RAM after cold boot.

Among those still present in the software of the two smartphones there is the solid color in Activity Menu which was supposed to be transparent. Moreover, sending SMS from DreamConnect3 will display the number in the contact field instead of Name. There are also some issues with the memory which disappears with no reason.

At the time when Sony Ericsson released the P990 and W950 handsets, they still had some software problems which generated problems to their owners soon after purchase. The company struggled to resolve them, although reached the bottom end, deciding to eventually give up. The announcement of their capitulation caused indignation among the newly owners of such devices and later determined the company to continue their work.

Owners of the two handsets coming from Sony Ericsson now have the chance of updating the software on their devices through Update Service, although this will remove only some of the existing issues.
