It turns out that Sony’s takeover of the Sony Ericsson joint-venture is already reflected in the next products that are expected to be announced within the next few months.

Basically, all three devices that we heard about in the last few months adopted Japanese names, such as Sony Ericsson Nozomi, Aoba and Nypon.

These smartphones are part of Sony Ericsson’s (still) 2012 lineup and have been brought to light a while ago via NenaMark's site or by user agent profiles.

While we already know a little bit about the first two handsets, the Sony Ericsson Nozomi and Aoba, the Nypon was kind of a mystery.

Well, this is about to change courtesy to XperiaBlog citing a trusted source close to the matter. It appears that the Sony Ericsson Nypon is another Android high-end smarthphone that will be outed sometime next year.

More importantly, this is the first Sony Ericsson smartphone in the Xperia family that drops the Qualcomm chipset for dual-core ST-Ericsson NovaThor U8500 SoC (system on chip).

According to the folks over at XperiaBlog, the Sony Ericsson Nypon (LT22i) will be delivered with the said ST-Ericsson NovaThor U8500 chipset and will run Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform.

Although the  ST-Ericsson NovaThor U8500 uses a 1GHz dual-core Cortex A9 processor and an ARM Mali-400 MP1 graphics processing unit, there’s no confirmation whether or not the Nypon will be packed with an improved CPU.

Unlike the Nozomi, which is said to pack a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen that boasts 720 x 1280 pixels resolution, Sony Ericsson Nypon comes with the same size display, but supports only qHD 540 x 960 pixels resolution.

On related news, XperiaBlog’s trusted source also confirmed the cancelation of the Sony Ericsson MT18 (Hjortron), which was to be expected.
