Sony Ericsson has just made available a new mobile phone in the United States, the eco-friendly Naite candybar, which was launched only a few days ago on the airwaves of Rogers in Canada. The new handset can be purchased in the US via any local Sony Style store or on the company's website, and comes with a price tag of only $159 free of contract.

The Sony Ericsson Naite sports a casing made of 50 percent post-consumer recycled plastic, and is coupled with an ultra-eco charger, proving itself to be an appealing low-end device, which can be purchased unlocked and unsubsidized. However, the handset still packs inside a great deal of features that would make users rejoice, including an integrated Facebook application so that one can stay in touch with friends and contacts at all time.

“The integrated Facebook application makes it easy to instantly update your status or view your friends’ latest updates. Or upload pictures to your Facebook account right after you shoot them using the Send to Facebook upload link,” the phone feature is described on the Sony Style website. Moreover, the company also touts additional features of the device, including text and picture messaging, push email, web mail, Instant Messaging, and more.

The specifications list of the handset includes a 2.2-inch display that boasts a 240 x 320 pixel resolution, a 2-megapixel photo snapper with video recording, 100 MB of internal memory, coupled with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 16GB of additional storage space, FM Radio with RDS, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, USB Port, and a 950 mAh battery that can deliver up to 13 hours of talk time or up to 600 hours of standby time.

Other features of the device include the NetFront web browser, Google search, preloaded games, media player, video streaming, stereo speakers, and support for UMTS/HSPA 850/1900/2100, GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 connectivity, all inside a device measuring 108 x 47 x 12.5mm and weighing in at 84g. Those interested in the Sony Ericsson Naite will find it available for purchase on the Sony Style website here.
